6 Day Mitchell Plateau Fly/Drive

Departs from Broome or Kununurra

Hotel pick up 7am

AVAILABILITY on confirmed tour 20 June 2017.

Days 1-2: Fly to the Mitchell Plateau in a light aircraft from either Broome or Kununurra. Your tour guide will pick you up from the airstrip and the adventure begins straight away!

Over the next two days we'll explore the magnificent Mitchell Plateau. Mitchell River National Park lies in a remote part of the Kimberley and contains majestic waterfalls, Aboriginal rock art and sites of cultural significance to the Wunambal people. We will visit these rock art sites, enjoy lunch with a scenic view straight on to the waterfalls, swim above the Mitchell Falls, marvel at Little Mertens and Big Mertens Falls and also swim in other pretty spots along the way. This is one of the most amazing places in Australia, in one of the most remote spots. Discover the spirit of this ancient land with Kimberley Spirit!

Stay: Mitchell Falls wilderness lodge (2 nights)

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: We descend the Mitchell Plateau with our first stop at the scenic King Edward River. This is a tranquil spot for a refreshing swim and some morning tea. We turn onto Kalumbaru Road and continue south to Drysale River Station where we'll enjoy an afternoon swim in Miner's Pool and overnight accommodation at this outback station.

Stay: Drysale River Station

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: We depart Drysale River Station and we'll enjoy morning tea at the scenic Gibb River before turning onto the famous Gibb River Road. This afternoon we'll head to Home Valley Station. Home Valley is owned by the Indigenous Land Corporation and is both a working cattle station and a tourist accommodation. We'll check in to our rooms before enjoying a swim in the pool and then sunset at scenic Luhrmann's Lookout (named after film director Baz Luhrmann, who filmed some of the Australia movie nearby). Dinner is at Home Valley's Dusty Bar and Grill.

Stay: Home Valley Station

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5: This morning we cross the mighty Pentecost River, stopping for photos of course, enroute to El Questro's million acre wilderness park. We'll head straight to Zebedee thermal springs to soak under a canopy of Livistona Palms in a series of pools cascading into each other. We'll head to El Questro's station township for lunch and an option for a swim in the nearby waterhole. We'll head up to Branco's lookout for a scenic view over El Questro then to another scenic waterhole for an afternoon swim before a delicious dinner.

Stay: Emma Gorge Resort

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6: This morning we'll walk to Emma Gorge. This stunning amphitheatre waterfall is rated # 1 on Trip Advisor as the top attraction in the East Kimberley, and it's easy to see why! Turquoise Pool is a stunning swimming hole on the way in to Emma Gorge. Emma Gorge is beautiful and certainly one of our favourite gorges and waterfalls in the Kimberley! We head back to Emma Gorge Resort for lunch and then head to Kununurra for an afternoon tour of the Ord Valley including chia and melon crops, Zebra Rock Gallery and Ivanhoe Crossing. Your guide will drop you to your accommodation or the airport.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
